Arts & Crafts
At St. John’s Daycare and Preschool children’s creativity is extended by the provision of support for their curiosity, exploration and play.
Our Art lessons are always fun as children are presented with a wide range of experiences and activities that they can respond to by using many of their senses.
Art enhances the development of a wide range of perceptual, physical, language, cognitive, and social-emotional skills. The arts are also valuable in developing aesthetic judgment and bringing personal satisfaction.
At the end of every school year we have an art exhibit in our classrooms and we show parents how creative we can be, always using recyclable materials and objects amongst so many other resources (paint, wool, glitter, colouring pencils, crayons etc.).
Exploring Media and Materials
We use unusual and interesting materials and resources that inspire exploration such as textured wall coverings, raffia, buttons, ribbons, yarn, string, translucent paper or water based glues to create animals, houses or whatever our imagination leads us to.
Children also experiment with colours, shapes and sizes at Childcare and Preschool.
